DR. SUNNY LANSDALE, PhD, LPC-S

Sunny started Treaty Oak Psychotherapy over 30 years ago and works with individuals, couples and families. She is an expert in the areas of attachment, family therapy and the emotional repercussions of trauma. Prior to working in private practice, Sunny worked in the hospital and educational settings. A graduate of The University of Texas and The Fielding Institute, Sunny has trained for decades in the latest approaches to health and well being including EMDR, Systems Centered Therapy and Somatic Experiencing. In addition to her work at Treaty Oak Psychotherapy, Sunny serves as a professor of human development and Trauma and Crisis Management at the St Edward’s University Masters of Counseling program.

ANDREA BUTLER, LPC-INTERN, CRC

Andrea works with individual adult clients.  She believes that developing a strong, collaborative therapeutic relationship can give people the freedom to discover their authentic selves.  She works closely with people on depression, anxiety, family of origin issues, relational issues, career transitions, trauma, and looking into the defense mechanisms we develop throughout our lives.  Andrea enjoys working with a diverse range of clients, and has a special interest in working with people from the LBGTQ+ community.  Over the last several years she has been transitioning her career from working in the tech industry to counseling.  She works with Texas Workforce Commission counselors to assist people with disabilities who are entering the workforce and is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.

CINDY PEARSON GARCIA, LPC-INTERN

Cindy brings a compassionate approach to her work with clients and recognizes the therapeutic relationship as one of the most essential components in therapy.  She works with clients in all phases of life including teens, adults, and elderly; seeing clients individually, as couples, or families.  A Mindfulness focus is foundational in her own life and therapeutic approach and she also utilizes modalities such as Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy.  She can assist with challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, relationship problems, working through childhood issues, transitions in life, self-concept development, and existential concerns. 

 

She also collaborates with a local physician offering in-home counseling to elderly/home bound patients with focus on aging, coping with health issues and disabilities, and end of life concerns; as well as offering counseling for caregivers and/or families in this setting.

COLIN MOSS, LPC-INTERN

Colin works with adolescents and adult males struggling with anxiety, depression, attachment issues or trauma. He works through an existential lens utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) protocols. In addition to this, he is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Colin provides a more casual and comfortable environment for those new to the therapy process, as well as those who have been working hard on themselves over the years. His view on therapy is that it has to be a good fit between counselor and client. The client needs to feel heard and validated, not judged. Colin’s approach incorporates as well as modern understanding of neuroscience and interpersonal communication.

HELLEN PENNELL, LPC-ASSOCIATE

Hellen works with individuals, couples and families. As a therapist, her role is to help her clients discover what they need in order to flourish—both in connection with others and within themselves. Humor, compassion and collaboration underpin her work. She strives to integrate the best practices from various models within a caring and collaborative relationship. She has begun training in AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) and draws from Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and somatic-based techniques. Her specializations include ADHD, grief and loss, attachment and family of origin issues, parenting issues--with a particular focus on parenting children with special needs and helping parents who are supporting their LGBTQ youth—relationships, trauma, anxiety and depression. Hellen is EMDR trained.

CARI CABANISS, LPC-INTERN

Cari works with adults and emerging adults who need support through life transitions and emotional difficulties. Interventions she uses are based on brain science and include mindfulness and grounding techniques. She also specializes in healing trauma using EMDR and client-centered counseling.

 

Cari has interest in working with professionals, people experiencing fertility issues, and those who take care of others.Before becoming a counselor, Cari worked in high-tech for 16 years. She has a background in navigating the corporate work environment and assists her clients with their career goals.

CRYSTAL FREDERICK, LPC-INTERN

Crystal Frederick is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate supervised by Sunny Lansdale, PhD, LPC-S. She holds a Masters of Counseling from St. Edward’s University, is trained in EMDR, and has done extensive sex therapy training in her pursuit to become a Certified Sex Therapist. She works from an attachment based, trauma informed, and relational perspective and specialized in working with Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diverse (GSRD) individuals. Crystal’s passion is helping people who feel like they are in transition in their life; whether healing from past trauma, navigating relationship changes, or exploring lifestyle issues related to being part of LGBTQ+, polyamorous, and/or kink communities. She has worked extensively with people exploring gender and sexual identities, as well  as working with sexual assault and domestic violence survivors. Having worked through personal struggles she is committed to helping others have more success personally and professionally, discover better mental health, and live an authentic life. KRISTIN ARMSTRONG, LPC-INTERN

Kristin brings compassion, inspiration, hope, and humor to her work with adult and adolescent clients.   She understands that women face challenges with roles, responsibilities, balance, identity shifts, and life’s transition zones.  Her work with individual clients includes areas such as relationships, spirituality, career, motherhood, marriage, divorce, co-parenting, step-parenting, empty-nesting, grief, anxiety, depression, and finding or rekindling passion and purpose.  Being a writer in addition to a therapist, Kristin helps clients find their authentic voice and change the stories they tell themselves and others.  Kristin is trained in EMDR which can be integrated into sessions to help clients get “unstuck” and clear out the debris of old traumas, defeating patterns, and beliefs that no longer resonate.

Anne works with adults who feel overwhelmed or stuck for a variety of reasons: issues connected to their nuerodiversity, managing a medical diagnosis in the midst of all the other complexities of life, or being in a caretaker role. Or maybe they can't name it but they know they want things to somehow feel or be different. Anne believes the heart of therapy is the connection between the therapist and the client. She provides a calm, nurturing environment that draws from both the power of relationship and understanding of the brain to help clients overcome challenges. KIM TAYLER,LCDC, LPC-INTERN

Kim brings compassion, inspiration, support and insight to the adults she works with. She builds upon the strengths of her clients as she assists them in transitioning from self-abandonment to that of self-acceptance.  Kim has worked in the addictions field for several years. Her areas of expertise include addiction and recovery, family of origin, developmental trauma, codependency, sexual abuse, spiritual exploration, and sexuality.  She also enjoys working with those who have solid sobriety and are ready to dive deeper into their recovery and psyches.

 

Kim utilizes both Eastern and Western philosophies to address mind, body and spirit, for a whole person approach toward healing.  She believes the therapeutic relationship and a safe space to process are most important for healing to take place.  She assists her clients in identifying and letting go of old beliefs and painful patterns to give opportunity for internal freedom, joy and connection to arise from within.
